[origin: WO2020020720A1] The invention relates to a method for compressing a gas, wherein a gas is introduced into a compression chamber (2) to be compressed, and a liquid (100) is pumped out of an intermediate container (4) into the compression chamber (2) at least partly filled with the gas. At least one part of the liquid (100) is pumped from the compression chamber (2) to a sprinkling system (42) by means of a sprinkling circuit (24), and the liquid (100) is distributed within the compression chamber (2) by means of the sprinkling system (42). The invention additionally relates to a device (1) for carrying out the method according to the invention.
