[origin: WO2019185692A1] The present invention relates to the use of a combination of metabolites contained in a sample of a mammalian subject in the in vitro or ex vivo early detection, diagnosis, prognosis and/or therapy monitoring of breast cancer. Said combination of metabolites comprises at least one amino acid selected from ornithine, threonine, tryptophane, glutamate, aspartate and histidine, at least one acylcarnitine and optionally further component(s). The present invention further relates to an in vitro or ex vivo method for the detection, diagnosis, prognosis and/or therapy monitoring of breast cancer, comprising providing a sample of a mammalian subject; determining the amount of a combination of metabolites; and comparing said amount with a control sample. The present invention further relates to a kit for performing said method.
