Abstract (en)
A method for adjusting a gain of a hearing device (12) is presented, wherein the hearing device (12) receives a sound signal, frequency dependent amplifies the sound signal and outputs the sound signal to a user of the hearing device (12). The method comprises: receiving a demand (46) for increasing a treble of the output sound signal; determining a frequency dependent headroom curve (58), the headroom curve (58) indicating up to which gain value a frequency of the sound signal is amplifiable; comparing the headroom curve (58) with a gain curve (56), whether the gain curve (56) is below the headroom curve (58) in a treble range (62) of frequencies, the gain curve (56) determining, which gain is applied to the sound signal in which frequency; when the gain curve (56) is below the headroom curve (58), increasing the gain curve (56<sub>1</sub>, 56<sub>2</sub>) in the treble range (62); and when the gain curve (56<sub>2</sub>) has reached the headroom curve (58) in the treble range (62), frequency lowering the sound signal, such that frequencies of the sound signal are moved from the treble range (62) into a middle range (60) of frequencies below the treble range (62).
