The storage and retrieval unit (2) further has a control device (12). According to the invention, the storage and retrieval unit (2) has a strut arrangement (18) which is movable between a reinforcement position, in which the strut arrangement (18) extends in a reinforcing manner between the mast (8) and the chassis (4), and an inoperative position, in which the strut arrangement (18), for the purpose of moving the lifting carriage (10) into the lower starting position, is arranged outside the lifting path of the lifting carriage (10).
