Abstract (en)

The present disclosure relates to a plate cylinder (40) for flexographic printing, wherein a first portion of the outer circumferential surface (40) of the plate cylinder (40) comprises suction openings (10) for attaching opposite edges of a flexographic printing plate (20) thereon via suction, said suction openings (10) being configured to communicate with a vacuum source (70), wherein a second portion of the outer circumferential surface (30) of the plate cylinder (40) comprises no suction openings, said second portion occupying, in a circumferential direction of the plate cylinder (40), at least 60%, preferably at least 75% and more preferably at least 90% of the circumferential surface (30) of the plate cylinder (40), and, in a longitudinal direction of the plate cylinder (40), at least 80%, preferably 100% of the circumferential surface (30) of the plate cylinder (40).
