[origin: WO2019211013A1] The invention relates to a bale opener (1) for opening pressed fibre bales positioned in a positioning direction (10), comprising a machine frame (11) and comprising a pick-up unit (12), wherein the pick-up unit (12) is vertically adjustably arranged on the machine frame (11), and wherein the machine frame (11) is movable in the positioning direction (10), such that the fibre bales (100) can be transferred by the pick-up unit (12), and wherein the pick-up unit (12) is suspended on the machine frame (11) by means of an at least one pulling means (13), wherein the pulling means (13) is operatively connected to a drive motor (14) for the vertical adjustment of the pick-up unit (12) on the machine frame (11). According to the invention, the at least one pulling means (13) is led over a deflection roller (15) arranged on the upper side of the machine frame (11), wherein a first end of the pulling means (13) is attached to the pick-up unit (12), and wherein a second end of the pulling means (13) can be wound and unwound on a pulling means roller (16) arranged on the pick-up unit (12), wherein the drive motor (14) is arranged on the pick-up unit (12) and is operatively connected to the pulling means roller (16).
