[origin: GB2573827A] A visual impairment device 10 comprises a power supply, an intense light source 12 comprising two or more beams of intense light 26, 28 haying different peak wavelengths and a wavelength band width less than 50 nm and a modulator f18 or spatially modulating the two or more beams of intense light 26, 28 in a spatial array 22 such that at least one of said beams 26, 28 in the array 22 has the requisite intensity to cause visual impairment. The intense light source 12 may be a laser and in an alternitve arrangement at least one of the beams has a wavelength in the visible spectrum of 390-700 nm.
