[origin: WO2019223897A1] The invention relates to a template device for a sewing machine, which is provided with a first interface unit (15) for detachaby arranging on the sewing machine side of the interface unit, wherein the template device comprises at least one stencil plate (20) which can be provided with a contour that can be adapted to a sewing material by mechanical machining in order to interact with the at least one stencil plate (20) in order to exert or support a handling and/or a sewing function on the sewing material in the sewing machine (1). The aim is to provide a possibility by means of which the template devices of the above-mentioned type in sewing machines can be changed faster. In order to achieve the aim of the invention, the invention proposes that the first interface unit (15) is arranged on carrier means (17) of the template device, wherein the carrier means (17) is physically separated from the at least one stencil plate (20), and the at least one stencil plate (20) can be fastened to the carrier means (17) of the template device in a detachable and exchangeable manner by means of second interface means (19).
