Die Erfindung betrifft eine Schallwandlereinheit (1), insbesondere für einen In-Ohr-Kopfhörer, zum Erzeugen und/oder Erfassen von Schallwellen im hörbaren Wellenlängenbereich und/oder im Ultraschallbereich mit einer Leiterplatte (2) und zumindest einem darauf angeordneten MEMS-Schallwandler (3), wobei zumindest ein Anschlusselement (4) der Leiterplatte (2) mit zumindest einem Kontaktelement (5) des MEMS-Schallwandlers (3) elektrisch leitend verbunden ist. Erfindungsgemäß ist der MEMS-Schallwandler (3) als oberflächenmontierbares Bauteil ausgebildet, welches mittels Oberflächenmontage mit der Leiterplatte (2) verbunden ist. Ferner betrifft die Erfindung ein Verfahren zum Herstellen einer Schallwandlereinheit (1) sowie eine Schallerzeugungseinheit (41).
