Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2020030622A1] The invention relates to a device for protecting data lines from overvoltages, comprising: a lower part (1) for receiving an upper part (2) having overvoltage protection parts; the upper part (2) for the plug-in connection to a lower part (1); an electronic monitoring unit (3), which senses whether an upper part (2) is plugged in, a corresponding signal being output by the monitoring unit (3) in the case that an upper part (2) is plugged in, in the case that an upper part (2) is not plugged in, and in the case that at least one overvoltage protection part of the plugged-in upper part (2) is defective; a bus system (5) having a plurality of bus lines, which are connected to a voltage source and at least to the monitoring unit (3), a signaling unit (13) also being connected, which indicates the signal of the monitoring unit and/or conducts the signal of the monitoring unit to a remote signaling means, the electronic monitoring unit (3) being arranged in a bus connector (4), which communicates with the bus system (5) and with a monitoring and evaluation unit (6), which is coupled to the upper part (2).
