[origin: WO2019223883A1] There is described a method for monitoring a polydisperse medium within an appliance (1) comprising at least the steps of stimulating an emission probe (4) with a stimulation signal (s(t)) for emitting an emission signal into the polydisperse medium, acquiring a response signal (r(t)), and analysing the response signal (r(t)) for obtaining and/or determining at least one parameter characteristic of the polydisperse medium. The stimulation signal (s(t)) comprises at least one random multi-sine frequency signal (si(t)) being the sum of a plurality of single harmonic components.
