Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2019233762A1] The invention relates to a modular plug connector system (1) for vehicles, comprising a module housing (2) having a first housing part (3) with a plurality of uniform slots (6) having interfaces for receiving a respective first adapter (7) from a first adapter group, wherein the first adapter group has a plurality of first adapters (7) of different types which have, on their outer sides, uniform interfaces for positioning in the slots (6) of the first housing part (3), wherein the adapters (7) have a different internal geometry for accommodating differently designed plug connectors (8). The module housing (2) also has a second housing part (4) with a plurality of uniform slots (9) having interfaces for receiving a respective second adapter (10) from a second adapter group, wherein the second adapter group has a plurality of second adapters (10) of different types which have, on their outer sides, uniform interfaces for positioning in the slots (9) of the second housing part (4), wherein the adapters (10) have a different internal geometry for accommodating differently designed mating connectors (11). The outer sides of the first adapter (7) and the second adapter (10) and their corresponding slots (6, 9) are designed in such a way that they form a primary safety device (15) for securing the adapters (7, 10) in their respective slot (6, 9) when the corresponding adapter (7, 10) is inserted into an end position in the slot (6, 9).
