The shells may be formed from metal. The reinforcing members may be steel plates, and be U shaped, J shaped, hook shaped, T shaped, Z shaped, or S shaped. The tongue may extend along the length of the panel, with a third reinforcing member engaged with the tongue at the opposing longitudinal ends. Also claimed is a joint assembly for a firewall comprising at least two of the sandwich panels, with a fixing means 106 extending through a joint formed by the cooperable engagement of the tongues and grooves of first and second panels for stitching the firewall to a support structure.
