Hierbei wird der mit thermoplastischem Verpackungsmaterial (4) umhüllte Artikel (2) oder die mit thermoplastischem Verpackungsmaterial (4) umhüllte Zusammenstellung von Artikeln (2) über eine Transportstrecke (TS) in einer Transportrichtung (TR) durch eine Schrumpfvorrichtung (10) gefördert. Dabei wird der mit thermoplastischem Verpackungsmaterial (4) umhüllte Artikel (2) oder die mit thermoplastischem Verpackungsmaterial (4) umhüllte Zusammenstellung von Artikeln (2) von oben mit Schrumpfmedium (HL) beaufschlagt wird, das eine erste Temperatur (T1) aufweist. Weiterhin wird der mit thermoplastischem Verpackungsmaterial (4) umhüllte Artikel (2) oder die mit thermoplastischem Verpackungsmaterial (4) umhüllte Zusammenstellung von Artikeln (2) seitlich mit Schrumpfmedium (HL) beaufschlagt wird, das eine zweite Temperatur (T2) aufweist. Hierbei ist vorgesehen, zwischen der ersten Temperatur (T1) und der zweiten Temperatur (T2) eine Temperaturdifferenz von mindestens drei Grad Celsius besteht.
