Die Erfindung betrifft eine Verdichtungsvorrichtung sowie ein Streckwerk für eine Verdichtungsvorrichtung, wobei die Verdichtungsvorrichtung für ein Streckwerk einer Spinnmaschine, insbesondere Ringspinnmaschine, zur Verdichtung eines verstreckten Faserbandes, mit einer Verdichtungszone, in der mittels einer Saugöffnung (4) eine Saugströmung senkrecht zur Fasertransportrichtung erzeugt wird. Um eine Verdichtungsvorrichtung sowie ein Streckwerk für eine Verdichtungsvorrichtung bereitzustellen, welches die Herstellung eines gleichmäßigen Garns ermöglicht, ist vorgesehen, dass bei der Verdichtungsvorrichtung ein Verdichtungselement angeordnet ist, das mit einer Führungsrolle, die derart in Fasertransportrichtung drehbar im Bereich der Verdichtungszone gegenüber der Saugöffnung (4) anordbar ist, dass das Faserband mit der Führungsrolle in Eingriff gelangt.
