Abstract (en)

[origin: EP3813086A1] An electric operator for a tap changer according to an embodiment includes a drive unit, a multi-turn encoder, a monitor unit, and a control unit. The drive unit drives a main shaft via a motor to change a tap in a tap changer. The multi-turn encoder has a member that rotates n times the rotation of the main shaft, and detects the rotational position of the member to thereby detect the rotational position of the main shaft. The monitor unit monitors the state of the tap changer on the basis of the rotational position detected by the multi-turn encoder. The control unit controls the drive unit on the basis of the monitoring results from the monitor unit.
