Abstract (en)
Provided are a communications device and a communication method for implementing coexistence with another wireless access system, that is, fair access to a wireless medium while reducing interfering power and interfered power, thereby improving the frequency usage efficiency or throughput. The communications device is provided with: a reception unit that executes carrier-sense for reserving a wireless medium; a control unit that sets a plurality of wireless medium acquisition classes; and a transmission unit that transmits a radio signal, wherein the wireless medium acquisition classes each represent a value at least indicating a data transmission period and an idle period, the wireless medium acquisition classes are obtained by classification based on the length of a fixed frame period including at least the data transmission period and the idle period, and the transmission unit transmits a signal including information which indicates that selection from among the wireless medium acquisition classes has been performed.
