[origin: WO2020025496A1] A method for treating a molten refractory product comprising more than 10% ZrO2 by weight, or "base product", said method comprising the following steps: a) heading at least a portion of the surface of said product, so as to cause the ZrO2 crystals to melt in a surface region extending over a depth of less than 2000 µm; and b) cooling the molten surface region obtained in the preceding step so as to obtain a protective layer.
