[origin: WO2020025589A1] The invention relates to a latch needle (100) for a stitch-forming textile machine, the latch needle (100) comprising a needle shaft (106) and a needle latch (110), which has a back (122), the needle shaft (106) having a slot (116) for accommodating the needle latch (110) and having a first contact portion (128) design in accordance with the back (122), the needle latch (110) being mounted on the needle shaft (106) for pivoting between an open position and a closed position about a pivot axis (120), and the back (122) lying against the first contact portion (128) in the open position, characterized in that the latch needle (100) has a damping spring (112) designed in accordance with the back (122) and/or the first contact portion (128), in order to damp contacting of the back (122) of the needle latch (110) against the first contact portion (128) in the open position.
