[origin: WO2020053254A1] The invention relates to a contact monitoring unit for a safety-critical triggering apparatus of a switching device with a connection diagram arranged on a first circuit carrier medium (1, 12) for a triggering apparatus (5, 16) and triggering electronics (4, 15) arranged on a second circuit carrier medium (2, 3). The invention is characterised in that the contact monitoring unit has redundant electrical connections (3, 14) that are monitored such that even the failure of a redundant electrical connection (3, 14) is detected.
