[origin: CA3103850A1] Novel payment terminals may take the form of a touchscreen tablet which does not include a printer; this allows a printer to be shared among several payment terminals. Issuing a receipt makes it possible to confirm the amount billed and to provide a proof of purchase. The data indicated on a receipt are sensitive and must be secured prior to transmitting them to the printer. However, techniques used to encode the data transmitted to the printer suffer from a lack of security. According to the invention, the payment terminal and the device for receiving data exchange messages relating to negotiating a shared cryptographic key through a first near-field connection. Data relating to a transaction made by the payment terminal are then encrypted using the shared cryptographic key and transmitted to the device for receiving data through a second radio connection.
