The display apparatus (10) comprises a display device (16) with at least two display areas (18), a communication device (12) for receiving charging state signals (S1), wherein each of the charging state signals describes a respective charging state of one of the at least two current consumer appliances (14), and a control device (20). The control device (20) is designed to establish the respective charging state of the respective current consumer appliance (14) on the basis of each of the received charging state signals (S2), in dependence on each of the charging states established to generate an image signal (S7) that describes an image representing the respective established charging state, and to transmit each of the generated image signals to the display device (16) (S8), so that the respective image is displayed on a display area (18) assigned to the respective current consumer appliance (14). The invention also relates to a domestic appliance with such a display apparatus (10), to a piece of furniture (32) with such a display apparatus (10), and to a method for operating a display apparatus.
