Abstract (en)
A method for balancing a rotor (5), particularly a vehicle wheel, comprises:- mounting said rotor on a shaft (4) of a balancer (1) comprising a base (2), a shaft support (3) connected to the base (2), said shaft (4) rotatable along a rotation axis (R) relative to the shaft support (3), one or more elastic elements (6) positioned between the shaft support (3) and the base (2), such that the shaft support (3) is elastically suspended over the base (2), a first IMU (7) fixedly positioned on the shaft support (3) and configured to measure a first (a<sub>z</sub>) and/or a second (a<sub>y</sub>) and/or a third accelerations (a<sub>x</sub>), and/or a first (ω<sub>z</sub>) and/or a second (ω<sub>y</sub>) and/or a third (ω<sub>x</sub>) angular speeds along three axes (x, y, z) of a reference frame integrally moving with the first IMU (7), and to generate signals representative of the same, a second IMU (8) fixedly positioned on the shaft (4) at a radial distance from the shaft rotation axis (R), and configured to measure a first (a<sub>z</sub>) and/or a second (a<sub>y</sub>) and/or a third accelerations (a<sub>x</sub>), and/or a first (ω<sub>z</sub>) and/or a second (ω<sub>y</sub>) and/or a third (ω<sub>x</sub>) angular speeds along three axes (x, y, z) of a reference frame integrally moving with the second IMU (8), and to generate signals representative of the same;- rotating the shaft (4);- receiving the signals coming from the first (7) and the second (8) IMUs;- determining from said signals coming from the first (7) and the second (8) IMUs an estimated unbalance severity (m̂) and an estimated unbalance angular position (φ̂) in the rotor (5).
