[origin: WO2020108727A1] The present invention relates to a portable tool (1), such as a spreading device, cutting device or combined device with cutting and spreading function, for mobile use, having: a housing (12); an electric motor located in the housing (12); an energy supply in the form of a rechargeable battery (18) disposed on the tool (1) or in the form of a connection for connecting to an external electrical energy source; a mechanically or hydraulically driven, displaceable piston rod (5) for carrying out work, more particularly spreading work and/or cutting work and/or lifting and/or pressing work; an electronic open-loop and closed-loop control unit for the open-loop and/or closed-loop control of the electric motor (3), said control unit comprising at least one printed circuit board (8) on which electronic components (9) are arranged, and control cables (10) for transporting signals for controlling, the control cables (10) having connection means (11). So that the tool can also be operated under water while still having a simple design, a brushless direct-current motor (3) is provided as the electric motor (3), the electronic components (9) of the printed circuit board (8) are enclosed by a potting compound (17) to prevent water entering, and the connection means (11) of the control cable (10) are protected against the ingress of water.
