A polarizing layer PS with the function of an analyser is applied to a transparent optical carrier material TM and on the other side a transparent optical functional layer FS is applied as an imaging layer BS, consisting of an optically anisotropic material OAM. A deliberate location-based dependence of material properties of the optically anisotropic material OAM is created by imaging three-dimensional structuring of the functional layer FS to produce the imaging layer BS in the form of an image motif BM. One or more decorative elements DE produced according to the invention can be introduced in the desired form, size and number, each with predefinable image motifs BM (image structures) and also at a different three-dimensional spacing and in a free arrangement, into an illuminating area of an illuminating device BV. Also proposed is the use of the decorative element produced according to the invention as a device for an architectural element for creating optical light effects on the exterior of structures, as a design element for interior architecture, or in object design.
