Abstract (en)

A transdermal drug delivery apparatus (10) configured to be engaged to skin of a user and supply fluid, the transdermal drug delivery apparatus (10) comprising: a housing configured to be fastened to the user; a microneedle assembly (24) mounted to the housing and configured to allow relative movement between the microneedle assembly (24) and the housing, comprising a first force provider (46) positioned between the housing and the microneedle assembly (24) configured to urge the microneedle assembly (24) outwardly relative to the housing and against the skin; a reservoir (16) mounted to the housing and configured to be moved relative to the housing from a first position in which the reservoir (16) is out of fluid communication with the microneedle assembly (24) to a second position in which the reservoir (16) is in fluid communication with the microneedle assembly (24); and a second force provider (142) configured to at least partially collapse the reservoir (16) while the reservoir (16) is in fluid communication with the microneedle assembly (24).
