A hinge locator for installing a hinge mechanism of a sash window within an outer frame of a fenestration unit, illustrated in Figure 2, the hinge locator comprising;a body defining a ramp portion configured to be mounted within an outer frame of the fenestration unit so as to guide the window sash into a desired position during the closure thereof, anda retaining formation for receiving a first end of the hinge mechanism formed from the body.
