[origin: GB2577524A] A plumbing fitting 1 has a body 2 having a flow path 3 extending therethrough, and a receptacle 4 disposed in the body 2. The receptacle 4 is arranged to releasably receive a valve mechanism 5. The receptacle 4 is movable between a first, operational, position in which the flow path 3 extends through the receptacle 4 and the mechanism 5, and a second position in which the flow path 3 bypasses the mechanism 5. In the second position the mechanism 5 can be released from the receptacle 4 whilst a fluid flows through the flow path 3. This enables the mechanism 5 to be easily accessed for repair without disconnecting the plumbing fitting 1 from the system to which it is attached.
