[origin: WO2020070139A1] A method for automatically selecting a calculation depth range during the measurement of a property of a viscoelastic medium, the depth range being chosen among P possible ranges, the method comprising the following steps: · calculating (CALC), from an ultrasound signal acquired by means of an elastography probe, the property of the viscoelastic medium in at least one of the P depth ranges, as well as the distance between the probe and the wall of the viscoelastic medium (PCD); · determining (TEST_PCD) the validity of at least one of the P calculation depth ranges; · determining (TEST_VAL) the validity of the calculation of the property of the viscoelastic medium over the valid calculation depth range or ranges; · selecting (SEL), among the values of the property of the viscoelastic medium for which the calculation is valid in the valid depth ranges, a depth range fulfilling a selection criterion.
