Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum Betreiben einer Arbeitsstelle (1) einer Garnspulen (8) herstellenden Textilmaschine, wobei bei einem Garnbruch an der Arbeitsstelle (1) zunächst wenigstens ein automatischer Garnsuchvorgang durchgeführt wird, dessen Ziel ein Aufgreifen eines auf die Garnspule (8) aufgelaufenen Garnendes ist und wobei bei einem Scheitern einer vorgegebenen Maximalanzahl von automatischen Garnsuchvorgängen ein manuell unterstützter Garnsuchvorgang durchgeführt wird. Das Verfahren ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass während des manuell unterstützten Garnsuchvorgangs die Garnspule (8) mittels eines Spulwalzenantriebs (11) entgegen ihrer Wickelrichtung rotiert wird. Des Weiteren betrifft die Erfindung eine Garnspulen (8) herstellende Textilmaschine, die dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass die Steuerung (16) ausgebildet ist, wenigstens eine der Arbeitsstellen gemäß dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren zu betreiben.
