[origin: WO2020075036A1] Accessory for improving sensitivity or efficiency of optical spectrometers and methods for utilizing such accessories. The accessory, in some embodiments, includes an inner surface configured to partially or completely enclose a light source and the optical spectrometer, and an outer surface. The outer surface and/or the inner surface are in optical communication with a sample, and the inner surface is configured to direct light emitted by the light source to achieve at least two optical interactions with the sample before being received by the optical spectrometer.
