Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2020114594A1] The invention relates to a method for operating a converter arrangement (1) having a modular multilevel converter (2), which comprises at least one series circuit of two-pole switching modules (9), of which at least one first switching module is a full-bridge switching module comprising controllable semiconductor switches (H1-4) and an energy store (C), which switches and energy store are connected to one another in a full-bridge circuit. The method according to the invention is characterized in that after one of the semiconductor switches in the first switching module has been found to be defective, the first switching module continues to be operated as a semi-bridge switching module. The invention further relates to the converter arrangement by means of which the method according to the invention can be carried out.
