Appareil de défroissage portatif comprenant une poignée (2) et une tête (3) d'émission de vapeur reliée à une extrémité supérieure de la poignée (2), la tête (3) d'émission de vapeur comportant une extrémité avant comprenant une face de traitement (30A), munie d'au moins un trou (32) de sortie de vapeur, destinée à venir verticalement en regard d'un vêtement à défroisser lorsque l'appareil est maintenu dans une position de défroissage vertical avec la poignée située sous la tête (3), l'appareil comportant une chambre de vaporisation (6) instantanée et un réservoir (5) d'eau alimentant par gravité ladite chambre de vaporisation (6) instantanée lorsque l'appareil occupe la position de défroissage vertical, caractérisé en ce que le réservoir (5) comporte un fond comprenant un orifice de sortie (54) alimenté par une chambre d'alimentation (58) de volume restreint ménagée à l'intérieur du réservoir (5), la chambre d'alimentation (58) communiquant avec le reste du réservoir (5) par un passage de communication (57) permettant de capter dans ladite chambre d'alimentation (58) au moins une partie de l'eau présente dans le réservoir (5), et notamment dans le fond du réservoir (5), lorsque l'appareil occupe la position de défroissage vertical et en ce que ledit passage de communication (57) ne permet pas à l'eau captée dans la chambre d'alimentation (58) de s'écouler par gravité dans le reste du réservoir (5) lorsque l'appareil occupe une position de défroissage horizontal dans laquelle la face de traitement (30A) est disposée dans un plan horizontal et est orientée vers le bas.
