[origin: WO2020086389A1] A spacing apparatus (10) for creating a properly dimensioned gap during the installation of a flooring system, the spacing apparatus including a first element (20) having a non-adjustable width (W) corresponding to an intended gap width, the first element extending in a first direction and joined to a projection element, the first direction and the projection element being generally perpendicular to each other, the projection element having a first portion (16) having a non-adjustable width (T-1) corresponding to an intended gap width measured from a surface (14) of the projection element in a direction parallel to the direction of the first element (20) the projection element having a second portion (18) having a non-adjustable width (T-2) corresponding to an intended gap width measured from a surface (14) of the projection element in a direction parallel to the direction of the first element (20), wherein each of said intended gaps has a different width and wherein a gap is provided between a flooring plank (46, 47) and a vertical surface (44, 53).
