Abstract (en)

[origin: WO2020099149A1] The invention relates to a linear sorter (1) for sorting piece goods (10), comprising a closed circulation on tracks (30) of a plurality of cross-belt elements (21), in which the piece goods (10) are transported on an upper run (31) on the cross-belt elements (21) and are sorted by unloading to corresponding destination points (11, 11'), and the cross-belt elements (21) return on a lower run (32). The cross-belt elements (21) are driven by linear motors. In order to simplify the maintenance and to have to keep fewer cross-belt elements (21) available as replacement components, the linear motors for the cross-belt elements (21) are controlled such that, as the cross-belt elements (21) return on the lower run, (32) the speed (Vret) of the cross-belt elements is higher (Vret > Vsort) than the speed (Vsort) of the cross-belt elements (21) while travelling on the upper run (31).
