[origin: WO2020126867A1] The present invention relates to an arrangement and a method which are able to locate an object in or below a body of water. An underwater driving vehicle (1) having a drive (6, 8, 9) and a travel direction changing unit (4.1, 4.2, 23.1, 23.2) moves the arrangement through the water. An underwater measuring body (2) is connected to the underwater driving vehicle (1) by a connecting element (3). The underwater measuring body (2) comprises a first multi-axis magnetometer (12.1) and a second multi-axis magnetometer (12.2, ...). Each magnetometer (12.1, 12.2, ...) measures a variable which correlates with the magnetic field about said magnetometer. A data storage unit (21, 22) automatically stores signals from the two magnetometers (12.1, 12.2, ...). An evaluating unit (28) is designed to automatically discover and evaluate a difference between the stored signals from the two magnetometers (12.1, 12.2, ...) in order to determine the position of the object relative to the underwater measuring body, and the distance and the position of the object relative to the surface of the floor of the body of water.
