[origin: WO2020126614A1] The invention relates to a solar module for generating an electric current, comprising a plurality of photovoltaic cells (13) which are electrically connected together, wherein one photovoltaic cell (13) has two electrodes, and a material, in which free charge carriers can be generated by an electromagnetic wave, is located between the two electrodes. The solar module also comprises one or more components (10) adjoining photovoltaic cells (13). The invention is characterized in that an electric device (15, 30, 31) is provided, by means of which an electric potential difference between one side of a photovoltaic cell (13) and an adjoining component (10) is reduced when generating an electric current. The invention additionally relates to a method for operating the solar module. By using the invention, an efficient solar module with a long service life can be provided.
