[origin: WO2020148274A1] The invention relates to a shock absorber (11) for a motor vehicle suspension, having a main axis (X1) and comprising: - a body (12) comprising a cylindrical bore (15) leading out via an opening (17); - a rod (14) of ferromagnetic material that is mounted to slide coaxially in the bore (15); - a guide ring (38) guiding the sliding of the rod (14); characterized in that it comprises at least a first permanent magnet (44) that is fastened in the bore (15) radially at a distance from the rod (14) and that is arranged in the vicinity of the guide ring (38), the first magnet exerting an attraction force (F1) on the rod (14) in a first predetermined radial direction.
