Eine Schulterstütze (30, 40) für ein Streichinstrument mit einem sich in einer Längsrichtung (L) erstreckenden Auflageelement (32) zum Auflegen auf Schulter und/oder Brust des Spielers soll eine besonders hohe klangliche Qualität des Ensembles aus Instrument und Schulterstütze (30, 40) ermöglichen. Dazu ist das Auflageelement (32) erfindungsgemäß mit einer Anzahl von in Längsrichtung (L) verlaufenden, das Auflageelement (32) in seiner Dicke vollständig durchdringenden Öffnungsschlitzen (38) versehen.
