According to the invention, in a first operating mode, before a rotational speed of the output shaft (8) is changed, a torque characteristic curve (14) is selected from multiple torque characteristic curves (14) for the first drive assembly (2), wherein in the first operating mode, during the change in rotational speed, the first drive assembly (2) is operated according to the selected torque characteristic curve (14) to provide at least one portion of the specified torque, and a difference in torque between the specified torque and the torque provided by the first drive assembly (2) is provided by means of of the second drive assembly (3).
