[origin: WO2020152499A1] The present invention refers to a device for detecting cooking vessel characteristics at a cooking hob, in particular at an induction cooking hob, comprising a carrier plate for supporting a heating element, an upper cover plate disposed above said heating element, a temperature sensor, and at least one capacitive sensing layer disposed between said heating element and said upper cover plate. At least one evaluation unit (5) is comprised of a substrate carrying at least one sensing electrode (20), each of said sensing electrodes (20) being formed as a conduit that resembles a meander-like curved shape, wherein each of said sensing electrodes (20) being electrically connected by means of a respective wiring to an evaluation unit (5).
