Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2580706A] A video signal receiving apparatus comprises processor and input circuitry, the processor circuitry: controlling the input circuitry to receive a first video signal; and identifying, in the first (e.g. broadcast) video signal, a second video signal retrieval indicator variably positioned relative to the positions of one or more dummy second video signal retrieval indicators, using a characteristic of the second video signal retrieval indicator which distinguishes it from the one or more dummy second video signal retrieval indicators, the characteristic being known to an intended receiver; and a second (e.g. advertisement) video signal is retrieved (e.g. over a network) in response to identifying the second video signal retrieval indicator after a (e.g. randomly determined) variable amount of time. Identification of the second video retrieval indicator may be by attempted decryption using a key, with none of the dummy indicators being decryptable using the key.
