[origin: EP3920549A1] A headphone device 10 comprises an adjustable headband 12 and a pair of sound outputting ear cups 14 one at each end of the headband. The ear cups 14 comprise an ear cushion 20 which is a hybrid of supra-aural and circum-aural ear cups, The upper part of the ear cushion 20 fits over the top of a user's ear and the lower part of the ear cushion 20 rests on the ear lobe of the user's ear. Each ear cushion 20 is rotatable about its central axis to allow users to adjust the positioning of the ear cushions to most comfortably fit over their ears. Such rotation provides the users to adjust the cushion 20 so that the narrowest part of the cushion sits over the very top of their ear. In case of users wearing glasses or spectacles, this rotational feature also enables the users to rotate the cushion 20 so that the softer area of the cushion is in line with the temple of their glasses depending on where the glasses sit in different people.
