Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2581146A] A method of isolating a sea chest of a marine vessel. The method comprises sealing an inlet (12, Fig 4) to the sea chest with an isolation apparatus 20. The isolation apparatus is both transported through a body of water adjacent the vessel and positioned to cover the inlet using a diverless operation. The method may further comprise transporting the isolation apparatus through the body of water by lowering it on an elongate member (19, Fig 6) to a depth corresponding to the inlet and positioning the isolation apparatus to cover the inlet using an ROV 50. An isolation apparatus comprising a blanking plate and configured for use in the method is also disclosed.
