Ein Roststab weist einen Roststabkopf, zwei Seitenwände, eine Lauffläche hinter dem Roststabkopf zwischen den Seitenwänden und eine zwischen den Seitenwänden unter der Lauffläche liegende Unterseite auf. Eine Ausnehmung in einer Seitenwand zwischen Lauffläche und Unterseite bildet mindestens einen Luftschlitz der nur an einer Seitenwand und nicht in deren gegenüberliegender Seitenwand angeordnet ist.Bei einer Roststabanordnung mit mehreren Roststäben mit jeweils einer Lauffläche und einem Roststabkopf, bei der ein oberer Roststab mit seinem Roststabkopf relativ zu einem unteren Roststab derart beweglich angeordnet ist, dass der Roststabkopf über einen vorderen und einen hinteren Bereich der Lauffläche des Roststabes gleiten kann, weist die Lauffläche im vorderen und im hinteren Bereich Luftschlitze auf und der Roststabkopf ist relativ zu diesen Luftschlitzen derart verschiebbar, dass der Öffnungsquerschnitt aller Lüftungsschlitze konstant bleibt.
