Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2581505A] The steam station for ironing of clothes, comprising a steam generator, a base 130 with a water tank (131, fig1b) and an iron 120 with a sole plate that emits steam provided by the steam generator. An iron rest 110 is connected to the base via a rotating joint 112, to allow the movement of the iron rest from a first configuration to a second configuration. In the first configuration the iron rest extends out from the base to allow the iron to be rested thereon. In the second configuration the iron rest extends parallel to the base and has a storage seat (115, fig3) to receive and secure the iron. The base could have a columnar shape. The water tank could be collapsible, to reduce the device’s required floor and storage space. The tank may have a corrugated side-wall, a telescoping side-wall or be formed from an elastic material. The steam station may be designed to apply pressure to the water tank using the weight of the iron. A feedback mechanism may be present between the iron and the base and there could be a mechanism that communicates the state to the user.
