[origin: WO2020164815A1] The application relates to a method for operating a charging system (100) having at least one charging station (102) for charging electric vehicles (106) and at least one back-end system (104), said method comprising the steps: receipt, by the charging station (102), of authentication data from a mobile user terminal (110) in order to approve a first charging operation; transmission, by the charging station (102), of an authentication data record to the back-end system (104) on the basis of the received authentication data; verification, by the back-end system (104), of the received authentication data record on the basis of stored user authentication data; transmission, by the back-end system (104), of an approval message to the charging station (102), in order to release the first charging operation if the verification result is positive; and transmission, by the back-end system (104), of protocol data relating to the first charging operation, to the mobile user terminal (110) upon detection of a communication link between the mobile user terminal (110) and the back-end system (104), established after the charging operation.
