Abstract (en)

[origin: GB2582658A] An ostomy pouch 50 having a pair of opposed side walls 51,52 with one of the side walls 51 defining a stoma receiving opening 100 for receiving a part of a stoma. One or both of the side walls 51,52 are formed of a polymeric film, whose internal surface is at least partially coated with hydrophobic particles 1. Hydrophobic particles 1 comprise a metal oxide core and a hydrocarbon chain, which has from 2 to 40 carbon atoms. The hydrocarbon chain is chemically bound to the metal oxide core. Preferably ostomy pouch 50 comprises a drainable opening 101, where both side walls 51,52 comprise a lower region 58 coated with the hydrophobic particles 1 surrounding the drainable opening 101. The hydrocarbon chain may be covalently bound to the metal oxide core via a functional group. The polymeric film may comprise a thermoplastic film, possibly comprising polyolefin, vinyl polymer or polyacetal film, where the thermoplastic film might comprise a co-extruded, bilayer or multilayer film. The hydrophobic particles 1 may be partially embedded in the polymeric film. An adhesive may secure the hydrophobic particles 1 to the polymeric film. Described in terms of overcoming of pancaking.
