[origin: WO2020193141A1] In the method, an input gesture is detected in a detection region, said detection region comprising a plurality of positions. The detected input gesture is assigned a first or second gesture type. If the detected input gesture has been assigned the first gesture type, an input trajectory is determined and the parameter value is set on the basis of the input trajectory, and if the detected input gesture has been assigned the second gesture type, an input position of the plurality of positions is determined and the parameter value is set on the basis of the input position. Two configurations can be activated for the detection region, namely a scale configuration and an increment configuration. If the detected input gesture has been assigned the first gesture type, the scale configuration of the detection region is activated, and if the detected input gesture has been assigned the second gesture type, the increment configuration of the detection region is activated. In the scale configuration, each position of the detection region is assigned parameter values. In the increment configuration, each position of a first sub-region of the detection region is assigned parameter values and each position of at least one second sub-region of the detection region is assigned an increment for incrementally changing the parameter value.
