[origin: WO2020201661A1] The invention relates to the purification of an acrylic acid comprising low-grade aldehyde compounds according to a distillation process in a distillation unit in the absence of a chemical aldehyde-treating reagent, producing a polymer grade acrylic acid stream that is withdrawn from a side outlet of the distillation unit. The invention makes it possible to eliminate the use of a CMR classified product in the production of the polymer grade acrylic acid from a technical grade acrylic acid and thus meets the HSE requirements of industrial plants.
